Students who participated in the PathTech LIFE Survey in fall 2017 at 12 Florida colleges reported that:
·         46% of the respondents pay their tuition using financial aid from state or federal government, 34% using their income from primary job, and 8% using military or employer assistance.
·         Regarding satisfaction& Program accommodation, advising received the lowest satisfaction rating at 3.71 out of 5, general and interaction received the highest satisfaction at 4.0 out of 5.
·         62% of the students report that the program accommodated their works scheduled and lifestyle choices very or extremely well.
·         25% of students report that they goal was to obtain an Associate degree. 37% planned to earn and Bachelor’s degree. 20% master’s degree, 5% doctoral degree.

Highlights from Hillsborough County STEM Fair

Every year FLATE supports the Hillsborough County School Board and the Florida Foundation for Future Scientists by serving as a judge for the Junior/Senior division of Annual Hillsborough Regional STEM Fair. The Hillsborough Regional STEM Fair has grown to be the largest in Florida and one of the largest in the nation, with over 1,900 entries from 2,500 students in grades K-12. During this event judges assisted to select twenty-six projects that will represent Hillsborough County in the 2017 State Science Fair, where over $200,000 worth of scholarships and awards will be given. The event involves approximately 1,500 projects from the brightest K-12 Hillsborough students in more than 190 public, private, charter, home, and virtual schools. Winners go on to compete at state and national levels. Send in Your Nominations for the 2017 FLATE Awards

FLATE and the Florida Association for Career and Technical Education (FACTE) are working together to coordinate the 2017 FLATE Awards and recognition program. The FLATE Awards are geared to recognize secondary and post-secondary educators, and industry professionals for their outstanding contributions to promote and support technology education and career awareness in manufacturing. Awardees are recognized under three separate categories and include individuals in many manufacturing areas including economic development, industry, education and administration. FLATE award winners are selected from nominations submitted from across the state. Nominees are judged by an Awards Committee made up of industry representatives from FLATE’s Industrial Advisory Committee and FACTE.
