Students who participated in the PathTech LIFE Survey in fall 2017 at 12 Florida colleges reported that:
·         46% of the respondents pay their tuition using financial aid from state or federal government, 34% using their income from primary job, and 8% using military or employer assistance.
·         Regarding satisfaction& Program accommodation, advising received the lowest satisfaction rating at 3.71 out of 5, general and interaction received the highest satisfaction at 4.0 out of 5.
·         62% of the students report that the program accommodated their works scheduled and lifestyle choices very or extremely well.
·         25% of students report that they goal was to obtain an Associate degree. 37% planned to earn and Bachelor’s degree. 20% master’s degree, 5% doctoral degree.

Mechatronics Community Exchange Showcases TAMU Project

The Mechatronics Community Exchange (MCE) is a group of   mechatronics educators in 2-year programs that meet virtually most months during the academic year.   On March 22, the MCE meeting showcased the an NSF ATE Mechatronics project at Texas A&M, College Station, Texas.   Dr. Tony Hsieh , Director of the Rockwell Automation Lab and member of the graduate faculty is the P.I. of the “Innovative Curriculum for Industrial Automation” or “ ICIA ” project (NSF DUE 1304843 ) . This project is supporting and creating innovative curriculum, lab exercises and pathways to increase the number of qualified technicians and engineers in the areas of operation, troubleshooting, design and integration of automated manufacturing systems (industrial automation). FLATE Supporting Diversity in STEM Education at the Annual Meeting of the Florida Educational Research Association (FERA).

FLATE with the support of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technology Education (ATE) Community participated for the first time in the Annual Florida Educational Research Association (FERA) Conference held on November 14 to 16 at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park in St Petersburg, FL. FERA is a professional association founded in 1959 to promote the investigation, research, and discussion of educational problems and issues affecting the state of Florida. FERA is an affiliated member of the American Educational Research Association through the Consortium of State and Regional Educational Research Associations.  The annual conference included approximately 220 administrators, state educational representatives, teachers, researchers, and graduate students from K-12 school districts, colleges, and universities across the state of Florida.
